Curled & curious, our new Amber Salamander has fire within. A curl of antiqued sterling silver head to toe, embedded with green & cognac marquise amber cabochons. Highly detailed down to the level of scales, wrinkles around the feet & webbed toes. Very three dimensional piece, about an inch & one half across the widest points including the bale. A fun & truly unexpected piece.
Over 500 species of salamanders exist. Some legends suggest salamanders are born of flame. This may have come from their being spotted while escaping from logs, in which they often shelter, being thrown onto a fire, making it appear that the flames created the small amphibian.
