Details   Antiquity Amber Cameo Art Pendant Exquisite handmade carved amber bas relief design. Artistic portrait of a strong woman with curling hair in profile, executed in the Greek manner. A specially reserved piece of milky mat colored amber in an eggy, antique ivory shade. This piece of amber is unusual in that it is neither translucent nor opaque, though it is touched by rich, intensely thin translucent striped butterscotch bands. Has a deeply antique feel- a newly created piece, but with consciously antique sensibility. A reserved. quiet piece, but upon closer inspection, unbelievably decadent. Emphatically one of a kind, once in a lifetime heirloom quality collector's piece. Design cannot be repeated. This beautiful tone on tone shading evokes a traditional carved cameo made out of seashells. The lighter colors of amber indicate stronger concentrations of succinic acid, the biochemical signature of amber. Of the world's amber, it is Baltic amber which carries the highest percentage of this substance, the thing which makes amber amber & which cannot be replicated in a laboratory. 1.5" x 1 3/8".
