Details   Artisan Amber Blackened Honey Sunburst No. 3 Once worshiped by Stone Age Neolithic ("New Rock") tribes, Baltic amber has been a rockstar of the colored gemstone world since time immemorial. This organic gem can be found riding the ocean currents & amber is considered a fire element.  This lovely handmade very dark honey amber has an almost cracked appearance, evidence of wear and weathering stretching back millions of years. Yet it glows with a deep, burnished fire. The sun is a treasured motif of amber myth & legend. Some ancient Chinese believed the golden gem held "the souls of many tigers and many suns."  And in global culture, Old World legends say amber is the solidified rays of the sun setting across the ocean while Greco-Romans believed amber to be actual sunlight trapped within the resin. Whatever we believe, amber personifies the warmth and renewal aspects of the sun.  This artisan crafted piece is handmade in the studio of Harald Popkiewicz. Of his work Popkiewicz says, "Our company has been operating since 1970 and our keynote has always been the same: to hold amber and its natural structure in respect.  Natural shape of amber gives the inspiration to our projects.  Therefore, we produce very uncommon goods."
