Ivory Palace Amber Rose No. 20 is a blend of marbled, mellow butterscotch shades mixed with some translucent & opaque yellow tones, plus a bit of clear. Also studded with inclusions. One dimpled, dark inclusion adds interest to the reverse side.
The reverse side is heavily encrusted with a
rich cinnamon color--this is the weathered outer amber skin, or cortex (also called "amber bark") left natural & intact, where the amber was kissed by storm & sea. Amber is warm to the touch unlike most other minerals.
About
80% of Baltic amber features this softly yellow tinged ivory color
inside, mainly opaque but translucent in places & studded with
drifts of lighter mat color. The lighter mat colors indicate a higher
presence of succinic acid, the unique chemical signature which makes
amber amber & which to date has never been replicated by science.
Our longstem roses are downward facing & carved in the round, with the reverse side made glossy & smooth, a bit flattened for comfort. Amber roses are held in place by arching twin sterling silver leaves with light antiquing & fine detail. The stems twist upward, allowing the chain or strap to slip through with ease. Though there are tiny thorn details, these are stylized & not a bit sharp. Each is a beautful, artistic rendering of a realistic, individual rose.
This sculptural series of special amber roses, specially commissioned by Andzia's Amber, were each expertly hand carved from a single large amber stone.
